7/3 Minnesota

The ride into Crookston featured some of the flattest and straightest sections of roads we had seen.  We stopped and did some exercises on the tracks to get a workout in.  We stopped at the grocery in Crookston and then were happy to see another tourist heading the other way just outside of town.  We rode to Maple Lake where we cooked some pasta, swam and threw the disc.  We got back on Rt 2 and cruised through eastern Minnesota. At some point a long the way Pete hit his brakes to hard and his damaged rig crumpled as his front wheel slammed into the down tube and sent him flying forward.  He got up unscathed and we rode into the town of Bagley as night fell.  We went to a wine store and then found a great campsite on Lake Lomond, along with hundreds of others who were ready to party on the 4th.  We swam out to the dock on the lake and threw the disc on the beach and then prepared ourselves for a very American day.

Wills entry from the Iphone that night
"Thunderstorms in MN. Public park. Free. Beach. Pavilion. 4 dollar bottles of wine. Tomorrow tail wind. Going to grand rapids tomorrow to see fireworks. We watched Twilight eclipse last night in East Grand Forks on our 30 mile rest day.We got obnoxiously drunk beforehand and could barely maintain during the "movie". Our abs got a intense workout from the constant amusement we got from the entire experience. Team Jacob/ Team Bella.
Felling a little spaint but the winds are looking good for us tomorrow. Love and peace to all.
America!!!!!?!!!!!"
