7/14 Bruce Peninsula

27 miles on the Ferry 57.2 miles riding
We got on the road early the next morning and rode to South Baymouth to catch a ferry.  Outside an extremely over priced grocery we met Paul Unett, a trans Canada solo rider who was putting in 80 to 100 miles a day by himself and is attempting to ride 18,000 miles around the world beginning February 2012 faster than any human ever.  We chatted about his adventures in the Icefield Parkway and lonely stretches on the trans-Canada Highway. We all got on the the 2 hour 27 mile ferry ride to Tobermory and cruised across Lake Huron. We bought some food at the grocery in Toberymory, said goodbye to Paul and found a beach to eat and throw the disc.  We got back onto 6 for a while and then turned off east on Dyers Bay road to the quiet E road which took us through farm country and some interesting rural areas before arriving at Isthmus Bay, which had a great view of Lion's Head.  As we found a public park near Lion's Head Harbour in Lion's Head, I discovered by wheel was irreperaply out of true and that my rim had begun to crack.  I also realized I had lost one of my tent pools.  We put up six moons with a stick and I went to bed early.  While I slept, the rest of the gang walked through the campsite and came across a friendly biker Steve, and his new girlfriend Donna, who were headed north on a Harley.  Steve was in a good mood after finishing a few overpriced Canadian beers and a good portion of a bottle of rum.  He gave his praise to our efforts and demanded that we take the garage door opener to his house in Fergus, Ontario, a little bit more than 100 miles south of Lion's Head.  He insisted that we enjoy his spoils.  The gang conversed with Steve and Donna for a while and then parted ways with the garage door opener.

Paul Unett, who rode his bike solo across Canada >5,000 miles and is attempting to break the world record for circumnavigating the world by bicycle beginning Spring 2012
