6/27 Pow Wow

We woke from our campsite and walked to the train track and did some exercises.  Goody put a wrap on his knee and was feeling much better.  We would be riding through the Fort Peck Indian Reservation for the first 80 miles of the day.  At some point we decided to make the day extra special.  We had been told by multiple people to stop in Brockton for the PowWow.  We got some sodas at the convenience store and bought some flat bread and cherry soup from a local.  Will and I trekked through a marsh to swim in the muddy Missouri before we rode to the Pow Wow. We saw a few dances and lots of Americana at the Pow Wow.  We took the advice of many locals and took Indian Route 1 for or last ride in Fort Peck Indian Reservation.  We saw the stunning Fox Island sandstone formations and rode along the road in happy harmony as the sun went down. We fueled up in Bainville as the Sun went down and then rode through the night into North Dakota.  Upon entering the state we were awestruck with 50 foot flames shooting up from Oil Rigs that workers attended at 2am.  We made out way into town, feasted at a convenience store and found a public park to sleep.

The Pow Wow

America

I noticed a bond between the Pow Wow dancers and our group of bike tourists.  Both of our practice/performance/art is that of coordinated rhythmic movement of our bodies.  We both decorate ourselves in neon colors to grab the attention of the modern mind.  And while our experiences are fringed by the strange-sometimes depressing materials that make modern life, the true goal is to become immersed in the process of movement, the sensations and elation of the flowing rhythm of the body.  And to really enjoy eating afterwords.

Aidan stopped to fix a broken spoke and Will took some awesome shots

Bike repair time is a great opportunity to throw the disc

Indian Highway 1-maybe the best road of the trip

This is what it's all about
