7/11 A Century for the World Cup Final
We were awoke by a Police Officer at ~430 in the morning. Perfect timing! We packed up and made our way to the nearest gas station convenience store where we caffeinated ourselves and hung out by a giant Canadian Flag before we finally hit the road. We soon were riding on 17 the Trans Canada Highway. This road had a eroded 2 to 10 inch shoulder. It was not fun riding with Canadian Truckers whizzing by at 110 kph. I had been dealing with a minor head cold for the last week or so that had not been unduly bothersome until our 60 mile time trial to get unlimited Fish two days earlier. I was feeling terrible and the road was not helping at all. On this, the day with the worst roads, we saw more bike tourists than any other day. Those who choose to ride across Canada have no other options in this section. We rode all morning pressing on to get to the game. The last forty kilos Will and Goody took off to catch the game and Pete, Aidan and I chilled a bit. We got to the Serpent River campsite met David. We watched the second half of the World Cup Finale on a huge projection screen TV. I was feeling awful and couldn't keep myself awake. I ate some Poutine and fell asleep early, happy to rest.
